In addition, we can see that the number of deaths in the picture above (nearly 2 millions) is relatively low compared to the number of cases but it is still considered as a high number of death cases. So why exactly some people die and others don’t? In this article we will go through some  criterias to check if the have any effect on deaths from Covid-19.

Number of cases

The chart below shows the top 3 countries in the highest number of cases :USA, Brazil, India have the highest number of deaths which is coherent, the higher number of cases a country has the higher the death case it will have.

The deaths of COVID-19 is due to several factors, we will dive into these factors and a have a clearer view of each one and their impact.

Total deaths and total cases

Age

Aging will have an impact on our immune system, which gets weaker and the probablity of having chronic diseases increases. This explains why Italy was hit very hard by virus and got to a point where the doctors had to prioritize the patients to be admitted to the hospital.

As we can see in the table below, Italy had the second largest number of cases of people aged 70 years old and more, which was probably the cause of the high number of deaths and the tragedy it faced.

Handwashing facilities

Handwashing facilities effect on total death per country

Washing hands frequently is the most effective way to prevent the spread of  Covid-19, this was a recommendation published by WHO. As demonstrated by the aforementioned chart, when the handwashing facilities goes down in countries like Mexico the death cases increase as shown above.

Diabetes

Thorough precuations should be taken by diabetics during this pendamic, since high blood sugar weakens the immune system and makes it less able to fight off infections, which might cause the patient to have more complication or even die. This is well explained in the photos below, by the fact that an increase in number of diabetics will increase the number of death cases.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Covid-19 is a serious virus , that is affected by multiple factors as age, diabetes, handwashing facilities and others. People should be careful and follow WHO recommendations in order to stay safe.
